At the more junior level this is split into multiple workstreams which then feed into smaller projects, larger projects and then programme management all under-pinned by a strong PMO.
Without a strong project management methodology projects are unlikely to be delivered on time and on budget, hence why it is so important and often why consultants are brought in to manage the most complex projects.

What We Look For
This is very much dependent upon the size and scope of projects our clients working on. Many companies will have their own bespoke project management tools and systems. Others will prefer a waterfall or agile approach. There are also various well known qualifications that help us identify strong candidates including PRINCE2, MSP, PMP, etc. New iterations and methodologies are constantly coming onto the market.
Generally though we look out for these important indicators on our candidates CVs:
- Size and scope of projects worked on (budgets responsible for in £000s)
- Number of team and client staff managed
- Tools, process and methodology used
- Inputs and outputs (especially those achieved personally)
- Length of projects
- Level of stakeholder engagement (working directly with C-suite)
Good project management recruitment requires us to identify individuals with strong processes, tools, attention to detail and a focus on the deliverables.
